I have to admit that I tend to get distracted by grocery shopping in that I forget what I need and end up buying everything I don't and walk out with a high bill. However, at the new ALDI food market we visited this past weekend, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to shop and find ingredients to make delicious snacks and meals. Here, at this easy-to-shop food market, premium, natural and organic food comes at prices affordable for all.

A clever and fun idea is the use of quarters for "borrowing" the shopping cart :: insert, unclip a cart, return and then get your quarter back. This ensures no roaming carts and no dinged up carts from same. The kids had a blast and yes we inserted and retrieved the quarter several times during one trip.

Ninety percent of the groceries ALDI sells are under its own ALDI-exclusive brands which we noticed right off the bat. The kids were thrilled with the snack choices that were available and even Hubs picked up a few of his favorite Southern Grove trail mixes and more. The market was clean and organized clearly so that we were able to find everything that we needed. We even picked up ingredients for a delicious pulled pork. ALDI offers its SimplyNature® line which includes USDA Certified organic and NON-GMO certified items, liveGfree® gluten-free products (There are so many gluten-free options!), USDA Choice meats and NeverAny! products that are free from added antibiotics, hormones and animal by-products.

We packed our cart full of delicious fruit, snacks, meats, eggs, drinks, veggies and more. Since we forgot to bring our own bags, we picked up a few bags for $.15 each (a steal for these durable bags) and bagged our own groceries. This is a fantastic system that reminds of a store I used to go to when I was young. This saves time and even more money.

When we got home and started to unpack I was pleasantly surprised with how much we brought home for about $75 and change. The kids are well stocked with snacks for school, Hubs has munchies while watching the game, I have some sweets and products to create a side dish and more. The meat immediately went into the slow cooker with veggies and spices to make pulled pork sandwiches.

It was delicious and the aroma filled the house. Hubs was definitely satisfied with the taste (and price!) of the ALDI meat. We also love pizza in this house so I was curious about the Morning Pizza so of course I had to try it. It was less than $5 and delish :: the kids gobbled it up and we are definitely going back to ALDI to stock up. Easy to eat and tastes fresh and homemade - what more can you ask for?

If you are looking for a fantastic market that keeps things simple and fresh, check out your neighborhood ALDI :: since there are 25 stores in Southern California.
