Drinking and Developing with Philips Avent Range + #Giveaway

Disclosure: My friend Rita received the following from Avent. All opinions are her own.

Helping to develop your child’s skills is an important task for every parent. It’s also a challenging task that never seems to end. One of the basic things that every mom seems to have to face is the transition their little one has to make from bottle to drinking cups. For me Philips Avent has developed a NEW range of Toddler Cups, a line perfect to help with that transition comfortably and favorably for my little one.  This new line features four stages that are unique for each stage of development and teach a new skill.

The Stage 1 cup, the Philips Avent My Trainer Cup is designed to help your toddler take his first step in learning to drink. Unlike most training cups, this one includes the necessary handles to help kids learn how to hold a cup, but maintains the familiar silicone nipple just like a bottle. I thought this was an innovative way to start my little one to learn how to hold on to the detachable trainer handles and drink by himself. This cup can be used for babies as early as 4 months, which is great to start developing the skills early.

The Stage 2 cup is Philips Avent My Penguin Sippy Cup, which is great for 12 months and up. This is perfect in the next stage as it features both a soft and hard spout rather than the nipple, but retains the trainer handles to help grip the cups. I love that this cup truly has a leak free design because my son loves to do things “all by myself” and I hate worrying about a mess.

The Stage 3 cup, is Philips Avent’s My Twist n Sip Straw Cup. This cup has a soft silicone straw to help your little one learn a new method of drinking. The twist lid keeps the straw clean and hygienic, but easy for any children to open and close all by themselves. Ideal for parents like me because it has a measurement scale and a leak proof valve.

The Stage 4 cup, the My Natural Drinking Cup is the best transition cup to a grown up cup. Like all the other cups, it is also spill free and promotes independent drinking. However, it features a unique 360 degree, lip activated rim. Liquids will only release if your little one has his lip pressed against the rim, which enables them to drink like and adult, but remaining spill free.

Philips Avent cups are innovative and perfect for both parents and growing children. As happy as I am with the cups, my son is also. He has done well with the cups but truly loves the designs that the cups feature.

Recently Philips Avent has teamed up with Scholastic to create Sip, Sip, Hooray. It’s a story of toddlers and a mischievous Mama “Sippopotomus” who are on the hunt of the perfect sippy cup for Baby “Sippo.” My son loves hearing the story as he drinks his milk. It’s a cute story that engages my kiddo and I can access anytime as it is also available online at http://philips.to/1dK6Kwq.  He also loves seeing “his” cups in the story and gets excited that they match.

  2. My youngest is in Stage 3 right now. I really like that the straw can be "twisted" away. Even more so, I like that it is completely disassemble-able so that it can be cleaned. We have had a few cups that weren't and we had to throw them out because the inside got really nasty.
