Disclosure: I received the following for review from Diono. All opinions are my own.
When I went to school, I remember my father dropping me off in class (until he passed away when I was in 1st grade). After that, I had to wait at the bus stop each and every day. While Kenzie loves riding the big yellow bus for field trips, it's not an option for her elementary school unless I wanted to drop off her at a designated pick up location and pay per ride. Insane right? So that means she needs to be safe and secure in her car seat for the commute to her school from home as well as all other times.
While she is still comfortably in the weight range for the traditional convertible car seat, many of her friends are in booster seats. I guess influence starts at a really young age. Since I am not comfortable with her being in only the bottom booster at her size, the Diono Monterey Booster is the perfect solution. She can feel and look like a big girl with the promise of just the bottom in the near future while being fully protected to ease my worries.

The Monterey is designed for children 40 lb to 120 lb (38" to 63" in height) -- wow! The amount of energy absorbing EPS foam padding lining this seat is amazing. This seat was made to adjust to fit your child - no matter their size. The dial on the back adjusts the width of the seat to fit shoulders up to 20" wide and the 11 position headrest adjusts up to 6.5" in height easily with one hand. I have expressed my love for the LATCH system time and time again. It allows for quick installation and removal in mere seconds, especially when traveling. The seat also packs flat and slips into an airline bag (with a convertible car seat and stroller second seat) for check in. No complaining from Hubs about lugging this seat to Maui!
Although Kenzie is a lightweight, once she grows older and heavier, she will most definitely appreciate the thick AirTek™ foam and tapered sides on the seat bottom as well as the extra length for leg support. She loves that there are TWO retractable cup holders in her booster. She can easily pull them out for her drinks and toys. I always hear Mason asking where his cup holders are - sorry bud!
Once Kenzie is older (and heavier), the Diono Monterey Booster back can be easily removed so that she has the ever popular (among her crowd) bottom booster left. This is a must have seat for transporting your child to and from school as well as any other time in a vehicle. The material is easy to wipe down and your child can easily climb into it by themselves. Kenzie gives it two thumbs up!
