Two New Critical Thinking Toys from Learning Resources + #Giveaway

Disclosure: My cousin received the two toys from Learning Resources for review. All opinions are her own.

My children received two products from Learning Resources. Both are designed for engaging critical thinking skills, something I struggle with during the summer when school’s out. I’ve been looking for something for my kids to do at home that’s intellectually stimulating, without just buying workbooks, and while limiting their screen time. They were excited to try these new games because they involve marbles, and my kids love marbles.

The first product was Tumble Trax Magnetic Marble Run, which is magnetic and can be played on our refrigerator. The kids create a path that becomes a track for the marble to travel on.  Kids choose a card which has the design shown that they can copy using the magnetic pieces to recreate the design. The game comes with 14 magnetic pieces and 10 activity cards. Kids can get creative and create their own designs as well. This game is great for problem-solving skills. You can challenge your kids by asking them how they can rearrange the pieces to make their marble slow down or speed up. It was great to see my kids’ eyes light up when they would drop their marble from the top and watch their design in action.

The second product we received from Learning Resources was Create-A-Maze. In the box, the pieces are in need of some assembly.  After clicking the two halves of the circle together and adding a round piece underneath, we were able to create our surface with which to create mazes. With this game, kids choose from one of ten activity cards and can re-create the design shown on the card with the 17 colorful 3-D pieces included in the box. When they’re ready, you drop the marble into the maze and use your hands to slowly tilt the maze to carefully guide the marble through. This is great for hand-eye coordination skills.

My kids had an amazing time with both of their new games from Learning Resources, and I was happy because they were using their brains. I like the fact that the kids can play with these games independently without any help from me. I really love these products because my kids were really working together as a team playing with these games.
