CellScope | Smartphone Enabled Digital Otoscope + #Coupon #OtoHome @cellscope

Disclosure: This is a partnered post with CellScope. All opinions are my own.

The health of our children seems to be the number one concern for almost every parent and with that comes routine visits to the pediatrician. If your little one is anything like mine, the minute the doctor steps into the room with her tools the tears start to flow. Even a simple ear check is a difficult task and unfortunately now even I hate this process. I, like most parents, always attempt to problem solve at home prior to resorting to a doctor’s visit. Unfortunately, when my little guy starts pulling and playing with his ears, I have no choice but to take him in and have him checked for an ear infection. With the Oto HOME by CellScope, I can easily check for things from the comfort of my own home.

CellScope’s innovative product uses current technology to help with concerns of today’s parents. The Oto HOME is a smartphone attachment that can capture the image of your child’s ear at home and then show the video to a pediatrician.

The Oto HOME is compatible with the iphone 5, 5s and 6. It comes with an otoscope attachment that mounts over the top of the phone’s camera. The kit also provides a storage container for the optical attachment and tips, tow pediatric and two adult reusable tips, and a lanyard to attach the storage case. Currently, the product comes with a iPhone case compatible with the iPhone 5 and 5s as well as a direct attachment for iPhone 6.

I love how easy this device is to use even for those individuals not medical or tech savvy. Simply download the app, create an account and begin adding your child to keep a log of everyone. You can log in with your password or with the TouchID on your phone. Select your child and follow the simple guide to record the images needed either in still shots or video format. The “ear drum finder” setting provides useful arrows to point you to the correct location to capture the correct spots in the ear drum. The images can then be saved and uploaded and data can be added under the diagnosis, symptom treatment and notes tabs on the bottom of the screen

My son reacted much better to his ear exam at home than he has ever done at the doctor’s office. This is a well designed product and I love how wonderfully it integrates with the software. The image quality was quite good and the novelty of the product and use of technology is quite impressive.

Once you’ve recorded some footage and images, parents have the option to use CellScope’s expert service and have an evaluation within 2 hours using Oto CONNECT. Parents can quickly share the video with a round the clock, on-call pediatrician who is part of the program, who can then evaluate the images and send a prescription to a pharmacy if needed.

This revolutionary product has amazed me. I am very impressed with how wonderfully they have optimized technology from the simple use of the app to their online services. I’m also very happy with the quality of the product in conception, design and quality. The team has thought of almost every feature to make life easier for children, parents and doctors. The Oto HOME is a great product and I can see this becoming a household standard much like the thermometer soon.

  23. I think it is great! A good way to save money, I think some parents need to exercise caution, in that sometimes a problem with the ear can be serious, even if it doesn't outright appear to be so. So if it isn't better within a a couple of days, a trip to the doctor would be best.
