How to Make Magic Treasure Rocks with Linky #FunCraftsWithMom

Kenzie and Mason love to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates.....everyday. And what do they always look for? Treasure! They both find random toys and objects to become treasure while they act out the scenes :: rather Kenzie is reciting the entire episode while directing Mason to follow along. So the ideal craft for this week of course had to be Magic Treasure Rocks.

  • Baking Soda
  • Water
  • Gel food colors
  • optional: glitter
  • small treasures such as jewels or dinosaurs

1.  Add a scoopful of baking soda into a bowl. Add a smidgen of gel food color.

2.  Slowly add water and mix. Keep adding water until the mixture is moldable into a ball with the treasure hidden inside. Mason loves the mini dinosaurs and Kenzie is a fan of the plastic jewels, of course.

3.  Repeat with different colors until you have a bunch. Set on a cookie sheet to dry overnight.

4.  Hide around the house or outside and let the treasure hunt begin!

5.  What's neat is that you can break these apart easily to find the treasure within or pour water over them to make the baking soda "sizzle" which is way more fun!
