Disclosure: This is a partnered post with BodyLab. All opinions are my own.

So I was shocked a few months ago to learn that it had been 7 months since I last checked into the gym. I knew it had been a while but not that long. Let's just say there have been year+ periods of non-activity. I guess I don't think much of it since I have my gym membership on yearly auto-pay. I've been a bit more diligent in going after finding that out since I can't become a BLOB while Hubs works out all the time. Exercising is only one component of maintaining a healthy lifestyle - another is post-workout nutrition.

BodyLab is an innovative, research-based line of health and fitness formulas designed specifically for a woman’s body. No added creatine. No bulky muscles. No ingredients that wreak havoc on your hormones. Simply a unique blend created with plant-based compounds to help you burn through excess body fat, get lean, and feel amazing.

Since I want to get lean and strong, rather than build bulky muscles, my body needs supplements that are different from the type Hub's takes. That's why I was excited to try BodyLab's line of protein complex to make my post-workout shakes. I tried out the TastyShake™ Complete Decadent Chocolate Fudge Whey Protein Complex first. It is really quick and easy to whip up after coming home from the gym - just mix one scoop with 6 - 8 fl. oz. of cold water and blend well. Cheers! The taste is smooth without a chalky aftertaste. You can even blend it with ice if you want something more like a treat. The best part is that TastyShake delivers 15 g of high-quality whey protein just for women, with less than 100 calories. No need to worry about diluting your efforts at the gym when enjoying your drink. It's great also to enjoy after sporting activities such as swimming, snowboarding (yay!), etc.

If you want a boost, try the TastyShake™ Thermodynamic Protein Complex: women can get the additional benefits of improved metabolism, thermogenesis, energy, focus and mood, all in her protein complex. I like to mix this up even as a mid-day treat at work. A lot of other people bring their protein powder to work so why not me? I try to take at least two walk breaks during the day to avoid flat butt syndrome from sitting in front of a computer so this is a fantastic alternative to a soda or juice with less calories!

I do have to admit that I can't just cut out desserts even though I want to drop 10 pounds. So why not amp up a tasty treat with the goodness of TastyShake™ Protein Complex? It makes me feel a wee bit less guilty!

Ingredients:
  • 1 scoop TastyShake™ Complete Classic Vanilla Whey Protein Complex
  • 2 cups vanilla bean ice cream
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • Handful of Sprinkles

Directions:

1.  Combine all ingredients in a blender except sprinkles. I used the Twister Jar from Blendtec which allows you to twist the lid to allow the thick ice cream to mix perfectly with the protein. Plus it's the perfect size for 2 servings!
2.  Blend until smooth. Fold in sprinkles.
3.  Pour into cups and serve immediately, garnished with more sprinkles if desired.
4.  Enjoy!

  1. I think I would substitute ice cubes for the ice cream so I don't lose all my hard work from the gym. It might need a little sweetener too. Great incentive and reminder to get back in the gym.

  2. That looks so good! I love protein drinks for what they do but not for their taste. I'm always happy to find one that sounds healthy AND tasty.

  5. Unfortunately I can do protein powders with whey. They make my tummy hurt. But I do buy them for my son (obviously not the ones for women though!)

  14. I'm adding sprinkles to all of my protein shakes from now on! I love simple flavors since it's quick to just mix and go, but sprinkles make anything fun!

  19. I've been experimenting with different protein powders lately - this is one I'd love to try!! I was just googling creatine, as I have one that has it in it, and I haven't been able to find out the nitty gritty about it, but I"d like to try one that doesn't have it in there!

  20. I'm not an ice cream person. Plus I don't have a freezer so I usually go with yogurt in the frig. Cake batter that's healthy sounds good though and I love it's made with whey protein.
