I love Spring because it means pretty dresses and sandals. It's also a time to celebrate with family and friends with play dates and BBQ's. I'm all about quick and easy decor and menus. I'd rather spend time socializing and playing with the kids than slaving in the kitchen. Find out how put together a floral centerpiece in minutes and whip up a refreshing cooler with the new Canada Dry Blackberry Ginger Ale®.

When I was growing up, my mother would bring in fresh flowers from the garden and set them around the house. I never realized what a pleasant impact they had until recently when my mother-in-law gave me a few blooms from her garden. It's different than having a floral arrangement from the florist or even a beautiful flowering plant in your home. I'm fond of the small arrangements that make a big impact.

Just find a small vase or bowl (I am using a flour? container without the lid and a coffee mug) and grab some masking or washi tape. Fill the vessel about 1/3-1/2 way with room temperature water. Take the tape and create a criss-cross pattern on the top.

Head out to the garden and snip a few of your favorite blooms. It's ok if they are not fully opened because a wee bit of time outside in the sun, especially this Southern California sun, will open them up beautifully in no time. Place one stem in at a time through the sections until full. You can tuck in leafy stems at the end. Even just one in the center of your table will be beautiful for an in-home brunch party.

I love making mocktails as an option for those who do not drink alcohol. They are fun and full of flavor and adding a little bubbly makes it feel like a celebration at each sip. We almost always have the original Canada Dry Ginger Ale® in our home so I was delighted to see the Canada Dry Blackberry Ginger Ale® at Walmart. It was the perfect base for a Blackberry Sage Cooler so I picked up all the ingredients that were needed.

PRINT RECIPE

Ingredients
  • 20 medium sage leaves
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 cups Chilled Canada Dry Blackberry Ginger Ale®
  • 16 ounces of blackberries
  • 1 cup water

Directions

1.  Bring the water and sugar to a boil over high heat just until sugar dissolves.
2.  Crush the sage leaves with the back of a spoon and add to the syrup mixture and set aside to let the sage infuse for 15 minutes and then remove the herbs.

3.  Puree the blackberries in the blender.
4.  To serve place 2 tablespoons of the blackberry puree in the bottom of a glass, add 2 tablespoons of the sage syrup and top off with 1.5 cups Canada Dry Blackberry Ginger Ale®.
5.  Enjoy!
