5 Ways to Motivate Yourself to Exercise #FitToPlay #ad

I have avoided the gym using excuses that I have no time. However, once my clothes became a bit too snug after my usual lunch indulgences, it was time to dust off my membership and exercise. Not only is it good for the body, it is good for my mind. I feel a sense of accomplishment after completing a class (even the Zumba one where I was barely following along). While Hubs has no problems waking up at 4 am everyday to go exercise for a couple of hours before work, I would need a swift kick in the butt to get me out of bed at that time!

I want to share my top 5 ways to get motivated to exercise more often and get fit for the summer!

1.  Invest in quality workout clothes. Just as going shopping for new clothes and shoes for work/weekend give me a thrill, having new clothes for the gym that keeps all my jiggly bits in place and looks cute gives me a reason to go to class. Don't forget new sneakers!

2.   Get a FitBit (or other step tracker). I always thought I took a lot of steps because I am running around the office all day long. But in reality, I barely took 5,000 steps which is only half of the recommended 10,000 steps a day. Also, having friends to "compete" against motives me to even go walk during my breaks and even do steps next to my bed at night if I haven't reached at least 10,000. Going to the classes at the gym gives me a ton of steps!

3.  Pick up the new Playtex® Sport® Combo Pack at Walmart (found on endcaps next to feminine care aisle). If you are like me and dislike even moving around when it's that time of the month due to fear of leakage, then banish that fear with this pack. I like the Playtex® Sport® Combo Pack with Tampons and Liners (you can also opt for the combo with pads) because the Sport Level Protection™ keeps me comfortable and dry no matter what the activity.

No need to avoid hitting the gym or other exercise during that week. I can't tell you the countless times I calculate my activities (even snowboarding trips!) around that week of the month. Now I can rest easy knowing that I can move and groove to the music while being protected from leaks thanks to the Playtex® Sport® Combo Pack.

4.  Set a Goal and Treat Yourself once met. I find it easier to have small goals that lead up to the ultimate goal. That way when you see some progress, you are motivated to trek forward. It's also nice if you have been eyeing something but can't take the plunge to buy it instantaneously. It's more rewarding to know that you are working toward your ultimate goal and rocking the bauble or even a sweet treat.

5.  Sign up for a Marathon or Spartan Race. If you have an event on the calendar where you need to be in your top form, you will definitely be more motivated to get up and train. Even when competing in the shortest of races, you don't want to be at the end right? For me, I even want to be in the front for charity walks so I will do a half sprint/walk with my team. That's Hubs in the photo and I am determined to join one of these days!

How do you motivate yourself to get up and exercise? Do you avoid that time of the month?

  3. I really needed to read this. With my schedule, working out is the last thing on my mind, even though it's so good for me.

  4. I think the most important thing in motivating yourself to exercise is doing something you really enjoy. I've only actually been to a gym a few dozen times in my entire life because I hate running, biking, lifting and everything else that the gym entails. Instead, I continue taking ballet classes as often as I can and I walk everywhere I can. It's hard to be motivated if what you're doing feels like another chore in life.

    1. I agree; finding a physical outlet you actually like is my #1 fitness tip. If it's a chore, you're far less likely to make it happen. For me, it's biking and dancing.

  5. My boy wants me to sign up for a Glow Run 5k and I just know it's going to hit right during my period (I'm overly regular so I KNOW). I could definitely use this Playtex Sport combo pack for training and for the actual 5k! #client
