being MVP: Custom Window Coverings from @BlindsDotCom + #Giveaway

Custom Window Coverings from @BlindsDotCom + #Giveaway

Disclosure: I received drapes for review from Blinds.com. All opinions are my own.

I never knew the importance of window coverings until we moved into our current home. There is a sliding glass door which leads onto the balcony and the sun shines so bright that we are literally blinded when sitting on the couch watching TV.

Hubs has mentioned getting the windows tinted just like car windows but that wouldn't really block all the sun coming through - just dilute it. The space is a wee bit awkward in that it isn't a full size sliding glass door like in most homes. So guess my delight when we received custom drapes from Blinds.com?

The ordering process was quite simple once I got the measurements down. There is the option to purchase ready made drapery panels if you have standard windows. However, I selected the custom route with the Easy Grommet Drapery Panels in the gorgeous Donetta Cascade fabric.

The blackout lining was a must to keep the bright sun at bay. The simple and clean look of the custom wrought iron rod with ball finial in pewter with coordinating tiebacks complemented the drapes to a tee.

The installation process was a breeze and required only a few screws and some skills by Hubs. Yes he installed as a surprise while I was at work because he had a short day at work. He measured about an inch higher than the length of the drapes so it could fall perfectly against the floor when hung. I usually like the look of a slightly longer hang but since we have two young kids that like to play hide-and-seek, it was more practical this way.

The result is a gorgeous window covering that blocks out the bright sunlight while bringing an elegance to our family room amongst the toys. I really want to re-do all the windows in our home now!
