Educational Insights | GeoSafari® Jr. My First Microscope & Underwater Explorer Boat + #Giveaway

Disclosure: My cousin received the following for review. All opinions are her own.

My children received two products from Educational Insights.  Since my daughter started first grade this year, she has been bringing home science homework.  I was delighted to see that science was in the curriculum, because last year kindergarten was focused mostly on language arts and math.  So I thought it would be nice to supplement some of what my daughter is learning at school with some science activities at home.  We received an Underwater Explorer Boat with a built-in 3x magnifier for the kids to check out what’s under the water.  Also, we got My First Microscope, an actual working microscope designed for ages 3 and up.

My First Microscope can magnify anything at 8x.  My daughter decided to toss it into the bottom basket of our double stroller on our most recent trip to the zoo, so she would be able to examine any interesting nature items she stumbled across.  The microscope is great for my preschooler too, with the two extra-large eyepieces, he has no trouble focusing it all by himself! I think it is a great skill to learn to use a microscope at such a young age.  The kids were able to look at rocks, seashells, feathers, sand, leaves, etc.  All images appear right side up and left-right correct.  I like that I don’t have to mess around with slides, like the microscopes I remember using in middle school and high school.  My First Microscope would be fun to play around with at home too.  The kids can take an up close look at fruits and vegetables. They can even find some bugs to place under their new microscope!

The Underwater Explorer Boat is also great because it encourages a love of science in kids. Either of these products would be great for a classroom teacher to utilize during a science center, or as part of a sensory table.  My kids were excited to try the Underwater Explorer Boat.  It comes with a ring-buoy wrist strap with a breakaway safety cord. The kids wanted to take it everywhere, to the bathtub and to the pool.  My daughter found a puddle with some tadpoles in it, and she was able to examine them up close with the boat.

She was so happy and it was awesome to see her so enthusiastic.  She even brought the boat along to the water park with us!  That’s the cool thing about it, there are so many places that you can use it, in a water table, at the beach, the lake, etc.

I would recommend both of these GeoSafari Jr products from Educational Insights to other parents because I believe that they introduce young kids to science in a fun way.  My daughter has started asking questions about what things can be seen with a microscope.  Yesterday she asked me if she could see water evaporating from a puddle! I love that my kids are able to explore whatever they are passionate or curious about.
