Disclosure: I received a party kit for review from Birthday Express. All opinions are my own.

If you are overwhelmed with all the fantastic party ideas on Pinterest, why not start with a party pack from Birthday Express and add special touches? Mason loves to watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates on tv so I thought that it would make the perfect theme for his 2nd birthday.

We had a fairly small party so the Ultimate Party Pack was perfect for us. I just purchased some additional plain utensils and paper products for the adults to use. The Jake and the Never Land Pirates Party Pack is officially licensed by Disney and includes all of your little one's favorite characters — Jake, Izzy, Cubby, and of course, their feathered companion Skully.

The table settings for each little guest was just awesome. There were skull placemats with Jake and the Neverland Pirates tableware with a Skull cup for each guest. Each setting also had a pirate blowout for festive fun and a paper pirate hat. The party favor treasure box was filled with goodies such as stickers, bandanas, telecopes, pirate earrings, tattoo sheets and eye patches. Each guest also took home a fantastic pirate hook.

The rubber pirate rings were the perfect topper for the cupcakes which were wrapped in reversible skull and crossbones wrappers. These were the highlight of the front table which was also decorated with the Jake and the Neverland Pirates Birthday Banner (it can be customized) and black pom poms and pirate whirls. Since the party venue did not allow for balloons, I have to save the awesome foil and latex balloons for another day.

The treasure chest pinata was a hit. I filled it with the included candy and toys and the kids had a blast trying to break it open with the buster. This is one tough pinata! Mason missed the point and tried to hit his uncle (who was holding up the pinata). The kids made a mad dash to pick up all the goodies and the sounds of the noisemakers filled the room.

Birthday Express exceeded my expectations and our guests were impressed. I can't wait to start planning Kenzie's Frozen Birthday Party

  5. I don't like using Pinterest, either. I think it's overwhelming. I like the party stores where you can get a basic theme and build around it.
