Video Conference with a Doctor Right on your Phone Anytime of the Day | Doctor On Demand + $200 Target Gift Card #Giveaway

Disclosure: This is a partnered post with Doctor on Demand. All opinions are my own.

If you have a medical question or issue but do not have the time to make an appointment, travel to, wait, etc., I have the perfect alternative for you. I love watching Dr. Phil and The Doctors on TV - - wait, go back, I loved watching when I was on maternity leave. There was so much to be learned and I was engrossed. Introducing Doctor On Demand which was co-founded by Jay McGraw (son of Dr. Phil) who created and is executive producer of The Doctors. Dr. Phil is an advisor of Doctor On Demand which offers, literally, doctors on demand through your phone.

All the doctors are US licensed and board certified. You will most definitely be getting sound medical advice and prescriptions, if needed. My co-pay is $40 but I have to take time off from work to actually go to a scheduled appointment which takes mere minutes but the drive and wait time is ridiculous. What's the point of having an appointment at a certain time if the doctor doesn't see you at that time? For the same cost, I can easily tap the app on my phone and engage in a video chat with a live doctor.

What's neat about the app is that you can enter your symptoms as well as any allergies or medication you are currently taking. You then click call and you are connected! Please note that you should not use Doctor On Demand for any life threatening conditions but rather symptoms that you would normally schedule an appointment for such as cold, flue, allergies, asthma, pediatric questions, prescription refills, referrals and more.

You can even take pics of the problematic area and the doctor will see and advise you. How fantastic is this feature? Recently, my arms and hands have been going numb while sleeping. I downloaded the Doctor On Demand in Google Play which took seconds and then proceeded to make my call. Note that you can't make the call while driving (as I found out) because they want you to be safe and not distracted! The doctor was really nice and informative and advised me that I most likely do not have tumor pressing against a nerve in my neck but rather I may have a "cervical rib" causing the problem. She suggested that I see an osteopathic physician or chiropractor for an adjustment.

I had this very same issue after giving birth to Mason for some time and my doctor advised me to lose weight. Let's just say that I was just a bit perturbed. Fast forward almost two years and I am so glad that I used the Doctor On Demand app. If you can't take notes while on the call, don't worry because the doctor will leave notes and/or instructions right in the app! This is fantastic service I must say.

  1. So many times it seems like the kids- or me or the hubby- are sick with something relatively minor after hours... you don't want to load up and spend hours in the ER, but at the same time, should you go? I think this service would be helpful!

  2. What a great app. It would be wonderful to chat with a doctor and not have to run out. Definitely checking into this. I have Lupus and sometimes its just nice to not have to spend hours in urgent care waiting to be seen. Thanks for sharing.
