When we travel, especially in foreign countries, we debate whether to bring loads of cash to exchange to the country's currency or use our debit and/or credit cards. While it is more convenient to use cards, there is potential risk of it being physically stolen and/or electronically stolen. There are many clever people out there that do not hesitate in taking advantage of tourists. The way to keep your identity safe while traveling this summer is to engage in LifeLock's services.
We went on a family vacation to Maui this month and I should have followed more of LifeLock's tips to avoid identity theft while traveling. I stopped my mail for the week and had a friend pick up my packages. I also used the hotel safe to put my valuables in when we went out for adventures. However, I did not refrain from posting vacation photos on my social media (as my mother-in-law advised me to do as well). It just seems like the norm nowadays but I do understand how it could be a breach in security when advising everyone following me that I am not at my home.
LifeLock's tip for calling your bank and credit card companies to inform them of your travels is great and one which I almost always forget to do. It makes it easier if you decide to use your card(s) as you won't have a hold or need to call the entity while making a purchase. It also puts them on alert for suspicious activity. Also, don't bring along unnecessary item that you usually carry around in your wallet i.e. social security card and other similar documents.
Leave your worries at home when you engage in LifeLock's services so you can vacation without fear of getting your identity stolen. They monitor, scan and respond to potential threats as well as track your credit score :: all the while guaranteeing their service.
