Disclosure: I received the Frontier 90 for review from Britax. All opinions are my own.
Although it would seem logical that the younger sibling wants things that the older sibling has, it seems to work the opposite in our family. Kenzie quite often wants her own things and Mason's. Case in point: Kenzie wants the same car seat as Mason because his seems to be better. Since she is now 4.5 years old but only about 32 pounds, she feels like a big girl in her "booster".
The Britax Frontier 90 UltimateComfort Series Harness-2-Booster Seat was really easy to install - - after I found the hidden LATCH connectors. You just lift up the seat back cushion, squeeze together the center levers and it flips up to reveal the LATCH conveniently stored on the bottom.
Pull each LATCH through the side slots and connect to your vehicle. Once connected, pull until tight. Thread the top tether through the headrest and attach to the ring on the vehicle and tighten the strap. This literally takes minutes. You can also opt to use Britax's ground-breaking CLICKTIGHT Installation System which is an innovative technology that allows parents to easily achieve a safe and secure installation using a vehicle seat belt throughout the life of the seat, in harness mode, without having to worry about the weight of their child. I also pulled the lever at the front of the seat base to recline the seat for Kenzie.
You can use this seat from ages 2 and up from 25 lbs to 120 lbs. It is a large seat but not bulky when comparing it to a convertible seat. Kenzie was anxious to climb in and go for a ride. I assured her that her new booster was the same brand as Mason's car seat and she smiled. She said that the seat was really comfortable and liked that there were two cup holders (one on each side) with extra storage. What I really like is that these cup holders are integrated into the seat which allows for less possibility of spillage and knocking over (when compared to removable and/or mesh cup holders). The arm rests are also a neat new feature for Kenzie to use.
I absolutely love Britax car seats because of the tangle-free, five-point harness which distributes crash forces across the strongest parts of the body and the HUGS (Harness Ultra Guard System) Chest Pads which provide resistance to forward movement in the event of a crash. The Quick-Adjust No-Rethread Harness easily adjusts the harness shoulder height (nine harness height positions - up to 20.5") and head restraint from the front of the seat without disassembling the harness straps. Why can't every car seat have this feature? It makes life so much simpler as children do grow quickly and taking the seat out to re-thread for appropriate height is time consuming.
Is your child ready for a booster? What are some of the features of the Britax Frontier 90 that you like?
