Disclosure: I received a mattress, frame and chair for review from DHP. All opinions are my own.
I never believed that time would pass so quickly as I aged. However, it seems so much more true now that I am watching my children grow up. Kenzie is almost 4.5 years old and has been professing all the things she will do once she turns 5 years old. She knows that her birthday is Christmas but doesn't quite know how many days away that is. One of the things she has really been enjoying recently is hanging out in her room and reading. She takes the books that I read her and reads them aloud in a storytelling fashion from her memory. She can literally spend hours doing so (when she is supposed to go to bed). I thought it would be a delightful surprise to makeover her room to a big girl room because in a wink of an eye, she has really grown into a little lady.
Although I used to be afraid to use white as decoration and furnishings in the home due to the possibility that it would get dirty. However, after seeing so many inspirational rooms and homes on Pinterest, my outlook has changed for the better. The Florence Upholstered Twin Bed in faux white leather is just perfect for my little princess. I decided to put it together at 10 pm and it was fully assembled by 11 pm with minimal sweat.....literally since the weather has been unbearable even with the AC on full blast. I advise not to tighten all the screws until the end (like the directions state) otherwise you will be loosening to connect the sides to the base. I was a rebel and it took a wee bit longer because I had to loosen and re-tighten. The instructions are large and clear visual pictures that are easy to follow.
Since there are slats on the twin bed frame, all you need is a twin memory foam mattress to lay right on top. The Signature Sleep mattress just unrolls out of the packaging and will fully expand within 24-48 hours. There is a slight odor that will eventually wane. This usually happens with most memory foam mattresses, in my experience. Kenzie really loves her new mattress because it is soft and "boingy" yet provides support. It's difficult to keep both the kiddos from jumping on it! There is a soft, knit fabric cover which you can just place sheets directly over the mattress or use a mattress pad. What I like about the Signature Sleep memory foam mattress is that body weight is distributed evenly and pressure is relieved on the shoulders, hips and feet as well as motion disturbance is eliminated. I can easily keep Kenzie company until she falls asleep and then roll off without stirring her.
As I mentioned above, Kenzie is just the little reader. Since she usually sits on the ground next to her bookcase, I thought it would be neat for her to have her own reading chair in her room because she has always liked sitting on the glider in Mason's room. The Kebo Chair in Black and White Geometric Pattern with Dark Leg is an accent chair but since it can transform from chair to lounger to sleeper, I thought it would be the perfect addition to Kenzie's room.
It's actually a good size (31.5" x 32" x29") for both Kenzie and Mason to sit on and read together. It is well cushioned and the microfiber upholstery is a great option when having little children because it is easily wiped down with a damp cloth. Note that the maximum weight limit is 200 lbs. Kenzie is just ecstatic for her new bed and chair as she now enjoys spending lots of time in her special big girl room.
