Educational Insights | Design & Drill® Socket to Me + #Giveaway

Disclosure: My cousin received the Design & Drill® Socket to Me from Educational Insights for review. All opinions are her own.

My son received the Design & Drill Socket to Me ($21.99) from Educational Insights.  It is designed for ages 4+.  It comes with 30 multicolored bolts, a socket wrench, and four different activity boards.  The Design &Drill Socket to Me caught my son’s attention right away.  He is very interested in pretend play right now so he was excited to try these hands on construction projects.  He thought it was cool that he was able to use the wrench to ‘build.’  The nice thing about this product is that there are no batteries required.  This toy seems very durable, which is good because it should withstand any rough play.

I am a big fan of toys that encourage creativity.  I love that there are no lights or music on this toy.  All that is required is your child’s imagination!  The socket wrench makes a rachet sound when you use it that sounds very realistic.  The wrench also has a switch on it so that you can change directions to screw the bolts forward or reverse.  My son was so happy that he could ‘fix’ the car and the boat with his new tool.  Even my daughter, who is six years old, enjoyed playing with the Design & Drill Socket to Me with her brother.

Another cool thing about this colorful toy is that there is no right and wrong way to build the different projects.  The bolts are interchangable between the rocket, or the robot, etc.  Plus, your preschooler can play with their creations afterwards.  My son needs to be kept occupied, otherwise he goes wild being stuck in our apartment.  I can’t always get out of the house because I have a new baby, so I am always looking for an activity that will keep his little hands busy.

Not only is this product entertaining, but it encourages motor skill development.  We live in Miami, so we’re going to be stuck inside for a lot of rainy days this summer, and this will be the perfect activity to pull out when my son starts getting antsy.  I would recommend the Design & Drill Socket to Me to any parent with a child this age who enjoys pretend play.
