I love floats. Why? Because it's part thirst quencher and part dessert. I especially crave one when the weather is unbearably hot as it has been of late. A&W root beer is my soda of choice when making such a treat however since I am trying to get healthier this year, both inside and out, I decided to put a little spin on my favorite combination.

When we pulled up to the market, Kenzie told me that there's a Frozen advert on the door and that's how she knows it's Vons. Let's just say I noticed it for the first time on our trip after school when she pointed to it and then started singing Let It Go.....inside the market. We picked up a bottle of A&W Ten from the Safeway brand store and a couple of bananas. She was excited about her first float. While I typically do not let Kenzie drink soda, since A&W Ten is caffeine free and only 2g of sugar per serving, she got her first taste and is now an avid fan. I love incorporating veggies and fruit in lieu of traditional sweets when possible for the kids. Frozen bananas can easily be made into "frozen yogurt" with either the Yonanas machine like I use, or simply with a food processor. Just place 2 ripe bananas in a freezer safe container and let freeze. Place in room temperature for about 10-15 minutes and then run through the Yonanas machine or food processor. Voila - perfectly healthy alternative to ice cream and just as creamy and delicious.

Pour cold and bubbly A&W Ten into your favorite mug, top with a few scoops of banana froyo and it's ready to enjoy with a fun striped straw. A low sugar treat without sacrificing any of the taste. I was surprised at how good this was and how the bold flavors of the A&W Ten stood out.

Visit the Just for U website for coupon for a FREE 2 liter of any flavor of the TEN calorie products : 7UP Ten, Sunkist TEN, A&W Ten, Canada Dry Ten. Offer is valid from 5/12 through 5/19 (while supplies last). What are you waiting for? Grab your coupon and head to any Safeway brand store to get your bottle!

Kenzie enjoys her sparkling floats and I don't have to worry that she is drinking something sugary and non-nutritious. What a way to start the summer!

I enjoy punch and am thinking of using 7UP Ten to recreate it for Mason's birthday party. Do you have a favorite drink recipe that you want to reduce the sugar content of?
