being MVP: Wireless Transfer with Eye-Fi & #Giveaway

Wireless Transfer with Eye-Fi & #Giveaway

Disclosure: I was sent the following Eye-FI SD card for review. All opinions are 100% my own!

I admit that before blogging, most of the photos that I took on my camera stayed on the camera for a long time mostly because I was too lazy to upload onto the computer unless I needed to print out a pic immediately. Even with photos I take for the blog, unless I need it instantly, I will put off having to upload them because of the hassle of forgetting to put the SD card back in for the next time I need a photo. Let's just say there have been several times where I've taken my camera to take pics of the kids with the SD card stuck in my laptop at home which leads to semi-disappointing photos from my phone.

Eye-Fi has the perfect solution for people like me who love to take photos and share but do not like the inconvenience of having to plug into computer and upload. My boss actually first told me about this neat little Mobi memory card card when he was gifted one for Christmas. I thought it was genius and was delighted to test it out myself. The Mobi memory card ($49.99 for 8GB) looks exactly like a regular SD card but has added components to make it smart. You download the Eye-FI app on your smartphone, launch the app and enter the activation code from your Eye-Fi card. You then start taking photos with your camera and the Mobi card transfers the photos to your smartphone and/or tablet. How amazing is that? The Wifi is built-in so you do not need to connect to a Wifi network.

I started snapping away and was delighted to see the photos appear on my phone which makes it 100x more convenient to share on my social media and via text. Note: I had to enable the wireless transfers in Eye-Fi connected to my Canon. With the Eye-Fi card inserted, press the menu button. Go to the first yellow wrench tab. The last option listed is Eye-Fi settings. Highlight and press set. Select Eye-Fi trans. and set it to enable. Press the Menu button.

I can grab from there to edit and insert into my blog posts rather than the historic method of plugging in the SD card to upload to the computer. I am amazed at the speed of transfer and satisfied with the reliability. It is also supposed to work with transferring videos - I just need to figure out how to take awesome videos with my camera first. Eye-Fi has truly tapped into the technology market in a way that was truly needed and I am glad to be on the journey and share.
