Disclosure: I was sent the following products from Gaiam for review. All opinions are 100% my own!
I can't believe that 2013 flew by and I am now the mama of a toddler and a preschooler. A new year always seems to bring a fantastic resolution of getting fit as can be shown by no new chocolate orders at work for the candy bowl. I'm the designated candy bowl filler because I'm the closest and let's just say that people make rounds several times per day. The holidays wreaked a havoc on my getting fit and I slacked off on going to the gym for about two months. I hopped on the bandwagon of getting a healthy and new body by hitting the gym.
I am a class person. I feel that I am more motivated and burn more calories with direction. Otherwise, I'm just on the treadmill or stairmaster perusing instagram and pinterest. I was that girl who took a gelato ice cream cone into the gym while walking on the treadmill. Since I have been super stressed recently, I decided to head to a yoga class to relax and calm myself while doing my body good. Jennifer Aniston is rocking a fantastic bod and she does yoga so why can't I get the same results right?
Gaiam has the best yoga essentials and I was excited to try some out. When I usually go to my classes, I get frustrated because my feet and/or hands slip and I have to keep readjusting. I don't think I'm a sweaty person but maybe I have sweaty extremities? The No Slip Yoga Socks ($7.98 + free shipping) felt funny when I first put them on because of the separated toes. However, upon wearing them for a while and feeling the power of the little sticky dots against the floor, I was hooked. These are awesome and kept my feet from sliding on the mat and I could hold my poses longer without wobbling. Plus my feet stayed clean!
As I mentioned above, I slip often when doing poses. I really want to try Hot Yoga but until I do, the Ultra-Dri Hot Yoga Mat ($31.98 + free shipping) also works during my regular classes and provides superb grip with the built-in microfiber top cover. The mat itself is thinner than others I have used and I was surprised at how much I like it. I can see how the sweat would be absorbed during hot yoga. My favorite feature of all is that this mat is machine washable - no yucky gym germs lurking around here!
The Gaiam Sol Custom-Grip Yoga Sling ($9.59 + free shipping) is perfect for keeping your mat neat and secure when headed to the gym. It is lightweight and can accommodate any size mat with the adjustable rings.
I am looking forward to going to the gym on a regular routine and getting fit and healthy for the new year!
