The Beginner's Guide to a Party Cheese Plate: Dressing Rehearsal Event @wholefoodslbc + #Giveaway #ad

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post for Whole Foods Market Long Beach.

Are you ready for Christmas? It's creeping up so quickly and this year we are actually hosting the family at our home since we finally have a formal dining table to feast at. I'm definitely turning to Whole Foods (which I frequent every week for lunch) for planning my holiday meal this year. Did you know that Whole Foods can actually prepare the entire holiday meal for you? Yes, I am actually considering this option for convenience.

On Monday, December 16, 2013, from 6 to 8 pm, Whole Foods Long Beach [6550 E. Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach, California 90803] will be hosting a Dressing Rehearsal Event which will featurTastings of Alternative Holiday Dishes.

Check out this great FREE event to get ready for your holiday festivities! Will I see you there?

The holidays are a great time for us because not only is Kenzie turning 4 on Christmas morning, I have been decorating the house for the holiday gathering! I needed a "dressing rehearsal" for the feast so I decided to try my hand at a fabulous Party Cheese Plate and Whole Foods had just the right things. Their Cheese department is AMAZING! Not only is the shop aesthetically pleasing, the selection is gourmet. The helpful gal told me that I should pick out an assortment of 5 cheeses and go from there.

For my rehearsal, I chose the following cheeses based on different texture and look: Bethmale Vache Jean Faup, Moses Sleeper Jasper Hill, H Mons Persille Du Beau jolais, Caveman Blue Rogue and Smoked Cheddar. Woah that was a mouthful and the names are foreign except the cheddar. I also spotted fabulous prosciutto crisps and fresh figs that would pair well with the cheese. A box of crackers and I was ready to start plating.

I used a beautiful bamboo chop block for presentation and opened up the cheese (after taking out of the fridge for about an hour) and starting plating. I think it's nice to pair something savory and sweet with the saltiness of the cheese hence the figs and prosciutto. It also makes the plate look inviting. You can also try olives, roasted nuts or marinated vegetables in addition to sliced apples, pears, preserves, fig spread or cranberry chutney. It's also nice to offer both bread and crackers to offer a different texture for your guests to experience with the various cheese. I think I'll pick up some cute chalkboard picks to identify each cheese.

Now that you've mastered the perfect Party Cheese Plate, it's time to find some fabulous wines. Check out the Top Ten Holiday Wines (all under $25) - The lineup features flavors from around the globe. There are hints on what wine to pair with eats so you can provide the best for your guests. Even if you aren't an expert now, you can easily learn with ease from Whole Foods Long Beach at the Dressing Rehearsal Event!
