I love the changing weather because not only does it bring out luxe coats and boots, it's the season to indulge in toasty drinks in addition to fall baking, of course. Since Kenzie enjoys helping me out in the kitchen whenever I allow, we had some fun making some of my favorite drinks that she can sip. After a shopping trip to Walmart to pick up the necessities, we were ready to start brewing away.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate
Ingredients

- 16 ounces milk or cream
- 4 ounces M&Ms milk chocolate candies
- 4 ounces chocolate caramel
- pinch or two of sea salt
- whipped cream

Preparation

In a sauce pan or small pot, heat half (8 ounces) of the milk, 4 ounces of chopped M&Ms milk chocolate candies and salt until melted.

Continue heating and whisk in the remaining milk and 4 ounces chopped chocolate caramel.

Continue whisking until entire mixture is warmed through and smooth in texture.

Serve with a little whipped cream, drizzle of caramel and sprinkle of sea salt.

The flavors are rich and bold and the M&Ms fall candy colors give the hot chocolate a bit of a red hue. Perfect for snowboarding trips to the mountain as well as cozy movie nights cuddled up with the kids.

Hot Apple Cider Float
Ingredients (one serving)

- 8 oz Mott's Apple Juice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves or 8 whole cloves
- 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
- drizzle of caramel sauce
- cinnamon sticks

Preparation

In a saucepan, heat the apple juice. Add ground cinnamon and cloves to taste. Fetch out the whole cloves and toss. Fill the hot cider into a glass.

Add vanilla ice cream to the glasses. Top with caramel sauce. Add a cinnamon stick for flair. Serve immediately with a spoon.

How quick and easy were these toasty drinks to make? Perfect to enjoy after a day of snowboarding and sledding with the kids. I hope to make it to the mountain this winter and hit the pow pow and make snow angels. Is the weather changing in your neighborhood? What are some of your favorite fall recipes?

  9. Salted caramel is so popular this year. I've had numerous coffees of the flavor but have not heard of these two drinks. I'm quiet partial to chocolate,m however hot apple cider is also a favorite.
