Mega Bloks: Firetruck Finn + Barbie Build 'n Play Super Star Stage

It's amazing watching little people grow and develop. Mason has become ever so inquisitive and active in his play that when the Mega Bloks toys came for review, I knew both the kiddos would have great fun. I bought basic Mega Bloks for Kenzie during the holidays and she is having a great time with them and can build like no other with the craziest imagination. Mason has started picking up on the concept of stacking and actually play with toys so Firetruck Finn from Mega Bloks' First Builders line was perfect for him.

Firetruck Finn is a toy into itself and Kenzie actually likes pushing it around and making sound effects for Mason. He laughs and laughs and I even pretend to spray water from the hose on the impending fires around his room. When you peek inside the truck, there are 13 blocks to build with, either on the truck itself or separate. After watching Kenzie place a block on the fire hose, Mason immediately placed one on top. He also figured out that he can put the blocks inside the truck and take them out for building. Such a quick learner! This is a lightweight and will entertain the kiddos for many years to come.

Kenzie's first introduction to the world of Barbie shall be credited to the Mega Bloks Barbie Build 'n Play Super Star Stage. She squealed in glee at the bright pink box and wanted to open it immediately because she loves Barbie. When I glanced at the box and saw that this building set is recommended for children 5-10 years old, I was a bit hesitant at the complexity. However, once I opened the box and looked at the clear and detailed instructions, my doubts went away and Kenzie started building.

Let me say that the pieces are really small and while Kenzie's wee little fingers had no problem with them, I had to make sure that Mason was out of area because I didn't want him to snag a stray piece. The actual construction took two nights and patience. I actually had fun with Kenzie because we were building something fabulous together than my usual stack of blocks I try to pull off as the stick monster. I was really impressed by the quality and detail of this performance stage.

Barbie is ready to rock out with her friends on this multi-level concert set. It even has real music that blasts when you press the magic yellow star. There is even a working elevator that transports Barbie onto the second level of the stage. Kenzie was enamored by the teeny piano keyboard as well as the DJ set or as she stated, computer. There are even tiny microphones and guitars for the stars! The hair and accessories as well as skirts are interchangeable. However, we found that the hair kept falling off so I took a bit of crazy glue and just glued it on so Kenzie wouldn't be frustrated with bald dolls. What would have been neat is if the strobe light lit up as well!

There is so much detail in this toy that Kenzie will enjoy building and playing for years to come. In the meantime, check out Mason thrashing the stage.
