HABA's Wish List for the Holidays: Marcel Memory Game & Giveaway!

Wow, I can't believe the holidays are so near and people have already begun shopping and children are making wish lists. Since Kenzie is a Christmas baby and now realizes that her birthday is Christmas, she has been awaiting this special day since February, literally. The wonderful HABA brand is offering brand new items just in time for the holidays and the kiddos received the Marcel game by Lilliputiens for review.

Upon first glance, the Marcel Memory Game looks to be a fun, quirky plush that is great to toss around. However, when placing little hands inside Marcel's tummy, there are hidden coated cardboard cards! These cards are unique in that they appeal to children's tactile sensory in addition to developing visual recognition.

When I first showed Kenzie Marcel, she questioned what he was. I told her to place her hand inside and feel around. She did so and pulled out a card. She began to run her little fingers across the smooth satin fabric. I told her to feel around inside the bag for the "matching" card. She felt around but pulled out a different plush fabric card. After a few rounds, she finally pulled a match and got excited.

Although it does take a bit of time for Kenzie to pull a match, when she does, it is pure delight. The colorful and quirky animal designs on the cards are easier to match by sight. Surprisingly, even Mason somehow found a match and proceeded to shove it in my face. HABA's Marcel Memory Game by Lilliputiens is a perfect educational tool that can be used as early as a babe Mason's age. I show him how to match up the cards as well as place them into Marcel's tummy. Marcel also has a small pocket on his back and I placed a few pieces inside. After watching this once, Mason began placing pieces inside - although his motor skills aren't fully controlled, he got the hang of it in mere minutes.

There is also a small moon puzzle hidden inside Marcel as a bonus and Kenzie immediately starting putting it together. She has developed a skill for puzzles recently and guess how many times she took the moon apart and put it back together? I love that Marcel is portable for travel for keeping the tots entertained. A simple memory game made super appealing for so much fun that the tots won't even realize how much learning they are doing. How great would this HABA holiday gift offering be for your special little one?

Jewish friends will be lighting the first candle on the menorah before Thanksgiving! Hanukkah begins at sundown on November 27, 2013 and The Festival of Lights lasts eight nights.
