CravOn Fries: Korean Kimchee Fries {Recipe}

I have a love for french fries and can eat so many that you would probably be surprised.  Therefore, when the box of CravOn fries arrived for review, I couldn't wait to put them into the oven. These lovelies are never fried which means half the fat of fried french fries.
Just place onto baking sheet and toss into 450 degree oven for about 20-25 minutes (turn halfway through) and they are ready to consume.  Hubs opened the Anytime Diced Fries to pair with steak. Although they were tasty, we decided these would fair better as a breakfast item with some eggs and spam - yum!

We next tried the Diamond Cut Fries paired with a delicious BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Avocado, Tomato) and I was in heaven. Fresh tasting fries that were slightly crispy and full of goodness. Just dip in a Tabasco-ketchup mixture and enjoy.

I then decided I would try my hand at creating something different with the fries rather than just eating them as a side.  I have a favorite summer noodle dish that is super simple so I decided to substitute the CravOn fries for the noodles and I came up with Kimchee Fries.

  • 1.5 cups of chopped Kimchee
  • 3 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 4 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 stalk of chopped green onion
  • Sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds
  • Bag of CravOn Steak Cut Fries

Chop up some delicious kimchee.  Contrary to myth, I do not bury jars of this in the ground for months (as my friends stated when I was growing up in Florida).  I go to the grocery store and get it from the shelf.  Here in California, it is even readily available in the major grocery stores!  Yes I know I am using a steak knife.  It's because I have a fear of cutting myself with the other huge knife.

Place in bowl and pour in the sesame oil.  I love this stuff and am very liberal with it.

Add the brown sugar and give it a good mix.

Take the CravOn fries out of the oven (you can use any variety) and place onto a plate.  I stacked up the fries but when I was eating, I thought it was better to actually lay them flat so you can enjoy the goodness of kimchee with every bite.

Place the kimchee mixture on top and garnish with the green onion and toasted sesame seeds.  It's now ready to enjoy!

The taste was so delicious and even Hubs who was wary about it, enjoyed it and asked how I made it.  This is super quick and easy to make and perfect for a snack anytime of the day.

CravOn has some other fabulous recipes that I am going to attempt to recreate - Chimicherri Steak and Fries - yum!
