I always gush over aden+anais products when talking to pregnant friends and other mamas as well as them being the go to baby shower gift. Since the weather has been a bit warmer at night but still a bit chilly in the mornings, I was excited to receive the aden+anais sleeping bags for review. I usually dress Mason in his Gymmies® or a onesie at night. I sometimes try to cover his legs with a light sheet (when we cosleep) because when I feel them, they are really cool to the touch. Also, when I put him in his 2 piece pajamas, he tries to scratch his belly. Therefore, the aden+anais sleeping bags arrived just in time to help Mason sleep better.
Since I love both the classic and bamboo swaddles from aden+anais, I wanted to do a comparison of the sleeping bags to see how Mason would do with each.
The aden+anais bamboo sleeping bag is super soft and light just like the swaddles. I actually used one the other day as a scarf :) It features a zip at the bottom to make it easier for nighttime diaper changes. Mason is using a size Large sleeping bag which is recommended for babies 12-18 months, 30"-34" and 22-28 lbs. Although he is only 11 months now, he is at the recommended height and weight for the size. I put Mason is a short sleeve onesie and then zipped him up in the sleeping bag. I was surprised at how large it was and would provide Mason a safe blanket during the night while allowing him to move freely and fidget. He actually slept for longer periods with this bamboo sleeping bag - I need to pick up more! Although I've had issues with slight pulling on the bamboo swaddles, the sleeping bag was fine after washing - No shrinkage and no pulling. Just a great blanket alternative for my meaty.
The aden+anais classic sleeping bag is just as lightweight yet cozy just like the bamboo sleeping bag. It is made of the classic single layer muslin that I so adore. The classic also has the same 2-way zipper feature as the bamboo. If you are living in a climate where it can be warm and cool in a matter of hours, this is perfect. Mason is comfortable yet not able to kick off this sleeping bag. I don't know if Mason is going through another growth spurt and wanting to feed more at night but when he has the classic on opposed to the bamboo, he seems to be a bit more restless.
All in all, while I love both sleeping bags, the bamboo wins my heart and grants me more sleep. Mason can move around a bit more without waking. I'm sure this is all my perception and according to his mood but I am just glad that even though the weather is hot (even with the AC running at night), he does not overheat or sweat while wearing his aden+anais sleeping bags.
Buy It: You can purchase the make-believe ragdoll classic sleeping bag for $32 and Azure solid blue bamboo sleeping bag for $37.
