Getting my Dessert on at Walmart #CookwithSpreads #ad

I love Walmart...especially the ones open 24 hours.  When there is nothing to do, Hubs and I go to Walmart and spend time perusing and purchasing.  This was our routine from the time we were married until just after Kenzie was born.  After that, the frequency dropped to about once a week.  We could always find something to buy at Walmart.  Since we have moved this year, the Walmart near our new home has a greater selection of foods and looks like a mini grocery store when you step through the doors.  The prices for food products are in par with all their other offerings - i.e. super affordable and makes you want to buy up the entire store!  I love that our new neighborhood Walmart is also open 24 hours (Hubs inquired of course) and since Mason is a wee bit older, we can easily justify taking a trip after dinner on even weeknights.

I love using butter for everything - sauteing kimchee for my kimchee fried rice, buttering my bread for grilled cheese sandwiches, butter on top of baked potatoes, butter on hot rolls, butter in my Oreo Smore's Bars and much more.

However, since Kenzie enjoys desserts and has a new found love of all things butter, I decided to go to pinterest and get some inspiration. I am drawn to cookies, cakes, cake pops, truffles, pies, cupcakes and brownies.  My coworker recently brought in a cake to work and it was delicious.  I asked her about it and she said although it was tasty, it was fatty because of the ingredients and amount of butter plus it was time consuming.  I decided I would attempt the recipe and headed to the butter section at Walmart.  I am usually a  regular unsalted butter gal but for the sake of the health of my family, I decided to try I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!® in the recipe.  Look at how expansive the selection of Unilever products is!

I chose the sticks because it would be easiest for baking purposes because it has the pre printed measurements on the wrapper.  The I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!® spread is made with 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter which means less fat on my body - wahoo!  I actually grew up with the recognizable Country Crock® tub but little did I know it really was a spread.  Props to my mama for watching out for our health.  I still ask her to make me her "Country Crock" pancakes when I go to visit her.  So delicious that I may have to recreate myself with the spread.

I ran around Walmart and picked up the remaining ingredients for the cake.  Do you shop at Walmart for your ingredients?  Can you guess what kind I am going to attempt?  I'll reveal in my next post :)   Until then, check out Kenzie and her love of butter in the video.

Cooking your favorite recipes using Unilever buttery spreads is a deliciously smart move. With 0g trans fats per serving, less saturated fat and fewer calories than butter, cholesterol-free spreads are a better option.
