10 Things to Do With Notebooks {Roaring Spring Paper Products} & Giveaway!

I love paper products and used to get giddy shopping for school supplies all the way through graduate school.  Roaring Spring Paper Products sent us some new products for review and Kenzie was all over them before I could even get them out of the box.  She must have gotten that slight obsession from me.  Roaring Spring is a 126 year old manufacturer of paper products in the US who has extended their line of earth friendly paper products to include Sugarcane Paper Notebooks, Cross-Over Notebooks and Color Me Products for the kiddos.

The lowdown on the goodies:

Color Me Products – These notebooks and folders encourage kids to be creative and personalize by coloring the covers. There are a variety of pre-printed themes on the covers such as Aquarium, Farm, Sports and Fun Park to peak kid’s interest.

Sugarcane Paper Notebooks - This environmentally friendly product is made of paper from sugarcane, truly a renewable paper.  This is a notebook where, by purchasing it really does save a tree.

Cross-Over Notebook - Unique wire bound notebook that has college-ruled lines running the width of the page on one side, and the length of the page on the other side. This unique printing allows you to take notes three ways:  wide for sketching or to illustrate diagrams, standard, or use the backlight grid pattern the lines create for graphing. These are several great ways to get a lot out of one notebook-- crossover to a better note taking experience!

1.    Origami.  I once made hundreds of those little origami birds (supposedly for love geez).  Tear out a sheet from the notebook and smooth the punched side.  You can then decorate your creation as much as your imagination allows.  Kenzie is a big fan of the basic boat as well as the paper hat.  Probably more so because those are the ones I will create with her.

2.    Scrapbook.  This is a great way to store your children's art.  Just tape it to a page and you are done.  Neat and tidy plus you can write in the date on the sheet.  You can even add photos that the school sends.

3.   Doodling/Drawing.  The lines are great for spacing purposes and also help when you want to create straight lines in your drawings.  I doodle all the time even during conferences and seminars.  It's called multitasking!  Most everything Kenzie "draws" is doodling so these notebooks are perfect for her.  She loves carrying them around with her when we go out.

4.    Papier-mâché.  I remember doing this in grade school and it was so much fun but messy.  I highly recommend using the notebooks for school first then at the end of the semester or year, get to making some art because it will have the neat writings on it.

5.    Cards.  Rip out a page and fold to make an instant card.  I like having Kenzie attempt writing birthday cards.  It makes them special and unique plus her stick drawing of the recipient is hilarious - jumbo balloon head with long lines for the limbs.  The hair is bushy and the eyes are either enormous or teeny.

6.     Jewelry.  Paper beads are so easy and fun to make especially for toddlers.  Just roll the strips of paper and string away.

7.    Recipe Organizer.  Tape recipes you randomly tear out of magazines onto the notebook pages and voila - your own personal cookbook.

8.    Award Holder.  Although Kenzie only has one award so far from completing her Swim Class, I'm sure she will receive many more once school beings.  I remember amassing quite the stack through my school years.  The notebook is a great way to attach each award and keep it organized for the future.

9.    Collaging.  I used to do this when I was in junior high but did not really organize it in the manner that Skinned Knees has.

Clip out your favorites in magazines and arrange in a neat collage in your notebook.  My favorites things to tear out are jewelry ads - my someday, hopefully Hubs will buy me ads.

10.  Stamping.  Let your kids have fun stamping up the entire notebook with homemade stamps such as potatoes.
