Ah the dreaded tummy time. Somehow Mason just doesn't like being on his tummy for long periods of time (unless he ends up on there while sleeping). I see other babies younger than him up and crawling and/or propping themselves up with their arms so that their head is help up high and want Mason to do the same. I was ready to put the Biddy Belly to the test.
The Biddy Belly is a fun, flat giraffe that promotes tummy time. I laid Mason on top and he immediately had to put his arms out to support himself. At first, he was a bit stunned as to what to do, but when he saw the key and ring toy attached to the giraffe's neck, he reached out. He absolutely loves the ring that rattles. Kenzie, on the other hand, is taken with the plastic keys and has since taken ownership of it. The horns squeak and make a rattle sound and the nose is crinkly. There are detachable bolsters between the giraffe's legs to keep baby from rolling off. Since Mason is a wee meaty, he was able to roll off onto his side at times.
I like that the cover is machine washable and you can interchange the toys. We practice tummy time with the Biddy Belly on an almost daily basis (after work and dinner) and Mason seems to enjoy it (until Kenzie butts in and gets on). I am glad that he didn't balk at this precious developmental time.
