I am constantly snapping photos of my kiddos because I don't want to miss any special moments. Every moment is special right? I downloaded the Shutterfly app onto my phone and upload my pictures straight to my account. I also upload photos from my camera. From there I usually print prints which usually means hundreds of photos. I then purchase albums in which to place the prints and jot a little note as to when/where the photo was taken (if I have time). However, towards the end of my pregnancy with Mason and since his arrival, the photos were just being neglected. I finally printed all the photos I had uploaded (I think over 700) and they were kept in my work drawer.
I perused through them and took out the blurry ones and handed them off to my inlaws haha and then they went back into the drawer. I kept forgetting to purchase albums and was just overwhelmed at this point. In the meantime, I was amassing more photos of special moments. Since I have made photo books in the past for events/occasions, I thought why not change my childhood way of thinking and just create photo books for Mason and Kenzie without going through the hassle of printing prints (aside from the ones I want to frame) and then buying bulky albums.
The process was simple as I went to Shutterfly and went through the photo book process as usual but after choosing the style, I did a select all of my photos and add to photobook. Voila - all the photos I chose were automatically formatted into the book without any extra time and effort on my part! I was so ecstatic with the process that I think I am going to keep uploading as usual and once every several months, have a photo book printed.
The result is a fantastic book with hard photos for Mason and Kenzie to thumb through which do not take up much precious storage space. I love the quality of the thick pages and the ink color for the photos is fully saturated. I am sure I will continue make smaller books for special occasions but I am really crushing on the 12x12 hardcover book because it's a bit like coffee table art. This is such a great way to show off memories rather than just store everything on USB drives (Hubs' suggestion).
