Vtech: Safe & Sound Baby Monitor

The heart palpitations when you can't "hear" your baby or if your baby seems to be sleeping so well that you poke him to see if he's still with you... these are the many fears that a new parent (or grandparent) has.  My MIL pokes Mason to see if he's still breathing and in turn wakes him up from a rather sound sleep.  Since Mason actually slept in his bassinet, I was excited to try the vtech Safe&Sound Full Color Video and Audio Monitor

Hubs mounted the camera with ease on the wall (just two screws so I installed it myself in the new home).  You can adjust the angle of the camera to capture the view that you most want of your baby.  I had it angled toward Mason's head, of course.  The camera houses five soothing lullabies that can be shuffled by pressing the arrow.  I love that the volume can be adjusted rather than just one pitch.

I absolutely love the parent unit.  It is super easy to use and clear.  The battery life is amazing at 18 hours.  Just charge by AC power  and you are ready to go.  It is good for several days if you just keep it on while baby is another room.  The large 2.8 inch LCD screen shows Mason in color and it even indicates the room temperature right there on the screen.  (Yes it was hot on our screen because our AC broke for a few days when I took the photo).  Even though the camera was less than 3 feet away from Mason's bassinet, I did not experience audio feedback.

The unit range is awesome at 1,000 feet and it was just perfect at our old home because it was only 1,050 feet.  Our new home is about double but the camera works just as well.  I actually mentioned to Hubs the other day that I would love to install a camera on the first floor laundry room and second floor playroom.  The parent unit can accommodate up to four cameras!

There is a 6-level sound indicator which lights up when Mason is crying.  You can also mute the receiver which will in turn vibrate if your baby is fussing.  The talk back intercom system is great when I want to soothe Mason with my awesome singing voice haha.

The new camera position next to Mason's crib (at least 3 feet away) is much better than with the bassinet.  It's nice that I can see more of Mason in his new room, especially when he starts moving around the crib once he's mobile.

The color contrast is fabulous and the unit is really easy to use.  It works well within our new home and the connection status is strong.  I can't wait to get the other cameras to truly keep an eye on my kiddos.

Buy It:  You can purchase the Vtech Safe&Sound Full Color Video and Audio Baby Monitor for $129.95.

  2. That is just awesome! We had monitors but no camera. This is really great seeing what is actually going on in there rather than to make noise while walking in to check on them. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I have this monitor exactly and its awesome! You can see so neatly , i can even see my baby's tummy go up and down while breathing :) the only little thing is that the batteries don't last much, maybe they'll last like 8 hrs without being plugged in but otherwise it's a GREAT video monitor and the prize is great too!
