Hubs and I have differing preferences for bed covers. He likes the super thick and plush Korean blanket my mother gave him and I prefer a light comforter. However, since moving to our new home, I have been a bit
irritated aware that having several blankets atop our bed looks messy and unappealing. I want to have a clean new house with everything in order. I was excited to try Nordic Comfort's SilkComfort Duvet.
The bag seemed small but when I pulled out the duvet, I was pleasantly surprised at the size. The sizing is European so I believe it was queen (200cm x 200cm) and our bed is king size. However, it covered most of the bed. There just wasn't any overhang. I fluffed the duvet and unlike traditional down or feather duvets, the NordicComfort duvet is filled with SilkFX - 100% natural high quality mulberry silk fibres and an extra heat layer in the middle.
This material is moisture absorbent, breathable, anti-bacterial, temperature regulating, machine washable and allergy friendly. I was most excited about the temperature regulating and allergy friendly features. I have horrid allergies and have taken medication for many years to alleviate the symptoms. I am happy to announce that after using this duvet for some time now, that I am sneeze free. It is also very comfortable with our sporadic changes in temperature - I do not overheat (I'm a natural heater) nor am I chilly. Although it's not as fluffy as a traditional duvet, it actually is more comfortable to use and very lightweight.
I have to purchase a queen size duvet cover for this but until then, I am relieved that the entire silk duvet is machine washable! Yes you can use this without a cover and keep it clean :)
NordicComfort offers several variances of the silk duvet as well as pillows, mattress toppers and children's duvet / pillow. Kenzie would love the Junior duvet.
