being MVP: Sharing the True Spirit of Christmas with World Vision & Giveaway!

Sharing the True Spirit of Christmas with World Vision & Giveaway!

It's the season for giving and we are all hustling to get last minute gifts.  When I ask if Christmas is Jesus' birthday she replies "No.  It's my birthday.  All mine."  Since she's going to be 3 this year I guess the whole concept of birthday and the holidays is still a blur.  I'm trying to distinguish it and emphasize the true spirit of giving during this season.  My mother told me that I should wrap gifts with her and have her hand out presents.  I have started this learning and social experience with her and surprisingly her (toddler) selfishness is somewhat absent.  I will also explain (probably within the coming year) that my MIL "adopted" a child through World Vision when Kenzie was born because they felt blessed to have their first grandchild and thus wanted to further bless another child.

This holiday season why don't we all take a step towards making the lives of children and families that are not as fortunate as us in other countries a little bit better.  These children are not asking for the latest tech gadget or wallet burdening toy, they just want necessities to make life easier and/or simple things to bring happiness.

How many lives can we change this Christmas? | World Vision Blog

Through World Vision's Maximum Impact Fund, one can choose a meaningful, life-changing gift to meet the urgent needs of children around the world.  You can even see how your gift (no matter how small or large) truly impacts these children and families by watching videos and reaching the blog at True Spirit of Christmas.

I received a beautiful set of Beaded Animal Christmas ornaments.  They are handmade Zakale wire & bead ornaments from Nairobi.  Zakale crafts are made from recycled materials by Kenyan artisans, who received a loan from World Vision to grow their business and lift themselves out of poverty.  They will make a lovely addition to Kenzie's small tree.

With a donation of $25 or more the donor receives a free gift to wear, carry, use or give to a loved one.  Most of the Maximum Impact Fund items available in the catalog are made by micro-enterprising artisans around the world and the sale proceeds directly benefit their communities.
