We love Educational Insights toys in this household. Not only do they have a learning component in each product, they also have a fun factor. Kenzie first played with cardboard bricks when we went to Little Prince. She actually fought with a friend over who could build with them. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Educational Insights carried PlayBrix which is a set of cardboard building bricks of much better quality.
You may be thinking "better quality" cardboard? Let me tell you that although children like to play with the cardboard boxes that packages arrive in, there is a difference in longevity. Let's face it, toddlers bash and bang up their toys - at least Kenzie does. That's why I haven't gotten her a cardboard playhouse. However, the PlayBrix were easy to put together (just a few folds to make each one) and rather sturdy. These are made of lightweight corrugated cardboard and printed with a water-resistant coating. One can differentiate size with the difference of colors - red (large), green (medium) and blue (small). There are 54 blocks in total which may seem like a lot out of the box but once your little one begins building they may want more than one set!
Kenzie decided she wanted to build a castle next to her slide. She was meticulous in the building process lining up each brick just so. She even got grandpa in on the action. She also is into counting everything so she of course had to count each brick as she stacked them. As much as she enjoys building towers, beds for her stuffed animal "friends" and more, the best part is knocking the creation down and starting again!
These are awesome and I can't wait for Kenzie to share with Mason when he gets a bit older. PlayBrix is wonderful for imagination and creativity as well as pure fun.
