being MVP: Medela Calma Bottle & Giveaway!

Medela Calma Bottle & Giveaway!

I love medela products and used them with Kenzie although I introduced the bottle too late.  I am determined to get Bean on a bottle even though I will breastfeed.  I received the Medela Calma Bottle for review and its purpose is to make the transition from breast to bottle easier.

On first glance, there are a lot of parts to this bottle (cap, nipple, top, base, lid, body).  There is only one size/shape to the nipple for all stages of breastmilk feeding as opposed to different sized nipples for certain ages.  The Medela Calma is designed for your baby to feed and pause naturally mimicking the breastfeeding pattern.  The milk will flow only when the baby creates a vacuum.  The bottle is BPA Free.

The nipple is unique in that it is vented.  This design helps avoid gassiness in babies.  I went through all different types/brands of bottles to get Kenzie to take one when I went to work but was met with no success.  Although the Medela Calma is a bit pricier than other bottles, it is a small cost if this is the only bottle your child will take.  The plus side of the Medela bottles is that they twist right onto the Medela breastpump!  Although I'm not fond of all the extra parts, I do trust the Medela brand and can't wait for Bean to try the Calma!

Buy ItYou can purchase the Calma Bottle for $19.99.

  1. I would LOVE to have Medela's double electric freestyle breast pump, but who wouldn't right? Their products are #1 and I wouldn't trust the feeding of my newborn baby boy to anyone else :) (btw he's coming in 10 wks :O )
    thanks u!

  2. Any of their electric pumps! I used a manual with my first by them, and loved it. I'm planning on BFing the full year this round so an electric would be a necessity!

  59. I breastfed my 2 boys while working full time as a pediatrician. Breastfeeding and helping women succeed is my passion in life, after my passion for my family. My advice to nursing moms who want baby to take a bottle are as follows. 1. Introduce bottle before 4 weeks of age. I started both boys on bottles at 3 weeks. 2. Offer a bottle every other day. A lot of lactation people say once a day, but I treasured my nursing time so I did every other day and my boys would take bottle when necessary. 3. Use a SLOW Flow nipple on the bottle you choose to use. I believe in flow confusion and not do much nipple confusion. I loved the playtex drop in system. We used the vinyl nips in slow flow, which truly is a slow flow. I am new to world of social media. You can find me on twitter @emama714. Hope this helps!

  63. With first LO, I too introduced the bottle too late, and she never drank from a bottle for one whole year! With DD #2 coming up, I also want to introduce the bottle, and I plan on doing it around 4-5 weeks. This would be a great first bottle baby! Thanks for the chance

  64. I would love to have any of the automatic pumps from Medela. I was fortunate to be able to use one in the hospital with my first DD, while she was in the Special Care Unit after birth and I couldn't put her ob my breast right away. They are so comfortable and efficient.
