Kenzie loves nature and how things work so naturally she would be drawn to science right? A future rocket scientist - we'll have to wait and see. The Hot Dots Jr. Beginning Science Card Set works in connection with "Kat" - the Talking, Teaching Kitty.
The Hot Dots system is interactive by engaging children in a game-style learning, review, and skills practice manner. They are self-checking in that the "pen" lets the child know if they have answered correctly. The Pen (uses 2 AAA batteries that are not included) also lights up brightly in either green (correct response) or red (incorrect response). It's actually funny watching Kenzie try to use the pen outside of the card set i.e. using it on the mat, other toys, etc.
The Hot Dots Jr. Beginning Science Card Set has 36 illustrated double-sided question cards asking simple scientific questions such as Match the Adult to the Baby (animal), Match the Skeleton with the Animal and much more! Kenzie is surprisingly good at this because she recognizes some of the animals already and shouts the name. It's nice that she can store the Pen directly in the box with the cards and take it along for portable learning.
Kenzie is a multi-tasker and likes to spread out all her cards and go through them one by one. She also bends the cards a bit while pressing down (an age thing I think). Overall, Kenzie enjoys learning science with her Hot Dots system and can actually stay "entertained" for a bit with the box of cards and Kat. The Hot Dots system is pretty extensive and I can't wait for Kenzie to get more cards and continue her education.
