It seems that at the beginning of every new year people want to be healthy and get a better body. I am included in this mass number. This year will be a bit easier with my BodyMedia Fit System. I used to go to the gym after work 3-4 times a week. However, since about 5 months after giving birth, it has been difficult to hit the gym on due to a pretty hectic schedule (Hubs already took the 4am gym spot and I do not want to go to the gym late at night).
BodyMedia FIT Armbands automatically track the calories burned during your daily activities and monitor the quality of your sleep, an important factor in weight loss. The information tracked can easily be managed with BodyMedia's online Activity Manager. Add in the easy-to-use food log and you have the right information to improve your weight loss.
I reviewed the Link Armband with Bluetooth hookup to my iPhone. Let me just say that this is awesome! I just strap it on and wear it throughout the day and night with a minimum of one hour break in between. There are sensors that track your number of steps and calorie burn - automatically! It was a bit awkward at first because it would show through my longsleeve clothes during work and definitely show when I wear shortsleeve. Everyone kept asking what it was and why I was wearing it.
I was surprised to see how many steps I was taking throughout the day as well as the calorie burn calculation. I just went to Las Vegas for a Bachelorette party this past weekend and wore it the first night out (hidden behind my sleeve - I'm not that lame). I took 9,067 steps and burned 2,142 calories! Yes I am thoroughly impressed and so were my friends. On a normal workday day I take about 3,926 steps and burn 1,832 calories. I am glad that I don't have to enter anything extra to know how much I am expending. I enter my food log at times (I am a bit lazy when it comes to this feature). I really love the iPhone App because I can see my progress without "plugging in" to the computer. The battery is pretty long-lasting in that I can wear the band for several days without a charge.
While I haven't lost any weight (for other reasons to be explained later) at the present time, I do feel it is greatly necessary to know how many calories I burn to calculate how much food I should injest to maintain a healthy body. Note - I switch it from arm to arm on a two day basis. I absolutely love this easy to use armband and would recommend it to anyone.

I learned that Body Media says: "will measure success not only in financial milestones but also in how we've changed the way people take care of themselves." which is nice that they care also about the product and the impact it has.

They have one device that is bluetooth enabled.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog via GFC and learned that regardless of what time of day you start wearing your Armband on your first day, the system gives you credit for the entire day. When you set up your Armband, you are asked for body parameters like gender, age, weight, height etc. The system uses these parameters to estimate your burn for the entire first day up until from midnight until you get start wearing the Armband. This will happen any time your Armband is off of your body, but it gets more accurate the more you wear your Armband. These estimates assume you are at rest.
ReplyDeleteThanks.

I really like how it's bluetooth enabled - it makes it much easier to use. I also like the idea of a calorie crunching and having a computer based program that gives you the numbers.
